I am so excited to share these pictures, not only because Jeff and I had an amazing vacation but because I’m so proud that I made it a priority to get these edited and organized haha. I’m still working on some of my photos from our Italian adventure two years ago so this has been really exciting to accomplish.
Our trip to London last month was so fun and we saw so many amazing places – Big Ben, Shakespeare’s Globe Theater, the Royal Changing of the Guards, Stonehenge, the Crown Jewels and so much more! London is an amazing city with so much to offer, I can’t wait to go back and see all of the things we didn’t have time for. The weather was gorgeous and sunny for all but two days and I really think we couldn’t have lucked out any more than we did. On to the photos!
- Big Ben was one of my favorite sites, it’s really gorgeous and ornate in person.
- Of course we had to get the toursity photos in a red phone booth!
- Parliament and the River Thames.
- We arrived an hour and a half early for the Royal Changing of the Guards and grabbed the last spot on the fence.
- Hello Queen Elizabeth and Buckingham Palace!
- I didn’t realize the Changing of the Guards was basically a big band performance. Check off the bucket list!
- The market in Covent Garden and seriously, how British does this guy look?!
- London streets are very tourist friendly, you always know which direction traffic is coming from. :)
- Round Pond in front of Kensington Palace, where Prince Willam and Kate live.
- Left is the King’s staircase in Kensington Palace (so gorgeous) and right is the Roman Baths in Bath, England
- After a two hour train ride from London we arrived in Bath, and the next morning it was so quiet and sleepy at 9am!
- We took a day tour from Lion Tours UK out to a bunch of small villiages that make up the Cotswolds. This is Castle Combe and is so. dang. pretty.
- It is one of the most picturesque and stuck in time places I have seen in real life.
- Some more of Castle Combe – I’m still in awe of how adorable it is.
- On to Bibury and Arlington Row, another adorable and quaint village
- Lower Slaughter, named for wet land ‘slough’ or ‘slothre’ (Old English for muddy place), not anything dramatic. :) It had the most gorgeous old mill and river.
- There are fantastic rapeseed fields of gorgeous yellow all over the English countryside, commonly known as what makes canola oil.
- Even the roads have gorgeous natural tunnels – and the next day, it’s off to Stonehenge!
- Stonehenge is the one item on Jeff’s bucket list – the ONLY thing.
- It was amazing to see in person and hear about what little history they do know about the giant stones.
- He was a happy, happy man. :)
- Back to London and had to cross the London Bridge, not to be confused with the Tower Bridge. The actual London bridge is very plain and boring.
- The imposing Tower Bridge!
- We spent several hours at the Tower of London and still didn’t manage to see everything they have there. It’s got an amazing history and of course, Royal Guards protecting the gorgeous Crown Jewels!
- On our last day we ventured to the Borough Market which had an amazing selection of breads, chocolates and food vendors.
- Of course we had to hit up as many free museums as we could – This awesome view is from the Tate Modern Museum, looking straight at St Paul’s Cathedral.
London, you are beautiful and so full of history, I can’t wait to visit again soon!
